It’s time for the systems management community to start acting like one. whurley (BMC Software), Mark Hinkle (Zenoss), and John Willis (Zabovo) are taking the lead, with the help of several open source projects, bloggers, analyst, and even competitors. We’re sponsoring the world’s first Enterprise System’s Management BarCamp. Like BarCamp, DevCamp, and SuperHappyDevHouse, BarCampESM will throw users, developers, vendors, and anyone else interested in systems management together at a non-commercial event, organized by volunteers, with free attendance for all. You can learn more and sign up here:

We'll be announcing the venue in the next 48 hours, and for those of you flying in it will probably be downtown. Austin's small though and trust us, you want to stay downtown if you can

Well I'm officially jealous! Austin is a bit of a hike for me from Switzerland. I still had hoped to make it but it doesn't look like it'll be possible.

If you're in ESM and in North America, you've got to make it to Austin!

May be this can be turned into a virtual Barcamp via JustinTV, upstream, etc. Once can only hope ...

Looking forward to hear all about it after the event! Have fun !!!

Well, we just had a planning meeting and it looks like people are asking to move the date back. Would that help you with travel plans?

Seriously, we will set up a UStream channel for the event and see if we can't blast it out to everyone. Let us know if there are other ideas or request you have like this. Another idea would be to get you to get some people together in your local area so that we can have simultaneous events (like we did with BarCampEarth) so that as many people as possible can participate in changing the systems management industry!

who knows the new dates just may work. if not, Ustream will be better than nothing.

Well, we will make sure to post a BarCampESM update to the main page as soon as we get things figured out. Hopefully, you'll be able to participate remotely if nothing else.

As someone who needs to be in San Antonio the week of the 21st, I need to make flight arrangements very soon. How soon will the dates be firm? The BarCampESM page hasn't been updated in awhile, so some may consider them firm already.
